Housing KC Presentation
Join AIA LA Housing Workgroup as they host the AIA National Committee and Community development Knowledge Community for an informational session on April 20,2026 to share approaches to pressing housing issues in today’s society. This Housing KC works to create equal housing solutions through policy advancement while supporting original, renewable designs. This session will expand on their specific initiatives to improve key housing issues in the United States. This session is free for current AIA LA Members and $25/non-member.
The discussion will highlight the following topics:-
Develop Zoning and Code Reform: Policy advancement to prevent zoning barriers to expand the number of new housing projects.

Mixed-Income Housing: Promoting the construction of mixed-income and low-income housing to create equal alternatives.

Framework for Design Excellence: Implementing AIA’s Framework for Design Excellence, specifically the policies on Energy, Water, Resources, and Resilience.

Design Advocacy: Developing architects into change-agents when tackling community issues by taking on new opportunities and roles in the community.
